Cynthia's Stained Glass
Cynthia's Stained Glass
I learned how to do stained glass in High School in the 80's and fell in love with the whole process. Through the years, I often thought about how much I had enjoyed making stained glass and how it allowed my creative side to shine. So as I approached the age of retirement, my decision to retire and start making stained glass for others to enjoy came very easy. Getting back into the swing of making stained glass came back to me like riding a bike. My husband purchased and constructed a small shed for me that I now call my "Stained Glass Studio" aka my glass shack where my 12 year old grey Rat Terrier "Benny" and I spend much time together. I have created several custom pieces and many suncatchers. I always work on my glass projects with much enjoyment where a lot of my inspiration comes from living here on the beautiful Oregon Coast.
PROCESS USED IN CREATION OF THE STAINED GLASS I MAKE
My pieces are not Plexiglas painted with acrylic paint and simulated liquid leading applied to make it look like real stained glass.
Suncatcher Process:
Colors of glass are selected, and pattern pieces are hand drawn on to authentic glass. Pieces are hand cut, edges ground and copper foiled. Pieces are then soldered together using 60/40 solder. The art piece is then cleaned and hand polished. Rings and chain are attached for hanging. Included is a suction cup hook for hanging, cleaning instructions and tips on caring for your handcrafted stained glass artwork so that you can enjoy this beautiful piece of art for years to come.
